This section of Missouri Health Matters provides consumers of health care services with data and resources on the quality of care provided by Missouri hospitals, as well as hospitals in the bistate metropolitan areas of Kansas City and St. Louis. Consumers can view measures on hospital readmissions and mortality, as well as patients who had surgery. In addition, consumers can view survey results from patients about their satisfaction on the quality of care they received during their hospital stays.
The data show if hospitals provide the recommended care for patients in core areas. Hospitals report the data to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which publishes the data on Hospital Compare. Hospital data also are measured against national averages.
